Joomla Extension : What Would Seth Godin Do

Posted on 15. Dec, 2009 by CMSMoz in Joomla

The idea of this plugin was taken from the popular Wordpress plugin which goes with the same name.

Here is the core idea :

Seth Godin advocates using cookies to distinguish between new and returning visitors to your site:

One opportunity that’s underused is the idea of using cookies to treat returning visitors differently than newbies. It’s more work at first, but it can offer two experiences to two different sorts of people. (Source: In the Middle, Starting)

I thought that Joomla users would find this useful too, so I built it.

Further, if you like this idea, you will dig Visitor 2 Buyer. It takes the concept to a whole new level. More about that here.

You should really put up an example (if possible). It sounds like a great idea but if we can’t see it in motion we may not download and install it.

I’m intrigued by this plugin, but I have a couple of hesitations:

    1. I don’t know what it does. What does it do? I see a few benefits mentioned, but what does it actually do? Is there a demo I can see?

    2. This is a legacy release. I run all of my sites 1.5 native, and I have no intention of ever running legacy mode. I’d rather either get another piece of software, or hire a programmer to build me new software than run legacy mode.

As I said, I’m intrigued to learn more and to try it out.

    Cheers,
    CET
